Dr. Timothy Bradford Jr. is the President and Senior Agronomist of Bradford Agricultural Consulting (BAC), a premier firm helping farmers unlock higher yields, conserve natural resources, and maximize profitability through precision-driven, regenerative, sustainable strategies. With a Ph.D. in Agronomy and over a decade of leadership in research, teaching, and field-based consulting, Dr. Bradford has become a trusted voice for producers across the U.S. and abroad. His expertise spans row crops and specialty crops alike, with a proven track record of advising and executing more than $15 million in sustainable agriculture projects that have transformed operations, improved efficiency, and built long-term resilience for growers.
Previously, Dr. Bradford has served as the Director of Agronomy & Strategic Partnerships at Vayda, where he oversaw all agronomic operations on approximately 5,400 acres and was the chief architect of their regenerative cropping systems.
Before his role at Vayda, Dr. Bradford was the Director of Farm Transitions for Animal Outlook, where he worked to create blueprints and strategies for farmers who desired to exit the animal agribusiness sector and enter more environmentally friendly and sustainable plant-based alternatives. Furthermore, Dr. Bradford was the Lead Precision Agriculture Instructor in the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences at Mississippi State University. He was responsible for teaching undergraduate & graduate courses in Precision Agriculture and Vegetable Production. He additionally was the faculty advisor for the MSU Agronomy Club and was appointed as a committee member of the Mississippi Youth Institute for The World Food Prize.
Before his faculty appointment at MSU, Dr. Bradford was employed by the United States Department of Agriculture – Natural Resource Conservation Service as a Soil Conservationist and Soil Scientist. His duties included mapping and classifying soils, utilizing GIS technologies to map and implement conservation practices, and restoring ecosystems & habitats for declining natural animal species. He has been stationed at various duty stations in Mississippi; Harrisburg, PA; Crestview, FL; & Saratoga, WY. He also serves on the board of directors for various nonprofit organizations that seek to mentor youth, build health equity and encourage positive emotional development in marginalized and socially disadvantaged communities. Additionally, Dr. Bradford serves as a senior advisor on USDA research initiatives and nonprofit boards, helping shape the future of equitable and sustainable food systems. He partners on projects focused on water and nutrient reduction strategies, ensuring cleaner waterways and more resilient production systems. His work emphasizes integrating precision agriculture with climate-smart practices to benefit all producers, while also championing greater representation and leadership opportunities for underrepresented groups in agriculture by advancing a food system that is productive, profitable, and inclusive.
A native of Jackson, MS, T.J. holds a Bachelor's and Master of Science in Agronomy and a Doctorate in Agricultural Sciences from Mississippi State University.
